JIJENGE and KWIYUBAKA: Tablet-based Financial Education
What is Jijenge?
JIJENGE means “To Build Oneself” in Kiswahili. (The app is also available in Kirundi, with the name "KWIYUBAKA.") It is also the name of an application that helps users build their financial capabilities. Jijenge concentrates on building an individual to achieve ECONOMIC CITIZENSHIP by learning simple principles that create a path for financial inclusion.
What is Jijenge for?
Jijenge is an excellent introduction to a simplified way of learning about formal financial services. Through the app, a user will have the opportunity of learning how to use Mobile Money by using simulators as well as learning about registering a mobile money account at an agent, wakala. Jijenge is also an excellent introduction to simple rules of thumb on how to make better decisions with our money.
Who is Jijenge for?
As an introduction to financial inclusion, Jijenge is made for anyone and everyone who wants to learn on how to use mobile money and to better manage their money.
How do users access the app?
Users can access the app through a tablet. By using technology, new methods of learning become possible. By using a tablet, one now can take it home and learn at their own time and pace. Users can also repeat as many times as they want a module until they feel they have learnt what they need to learn.
